Hello! My name is Jess! Originally from sunny Southern California, I transplanted to the PNW when I was 16. Growing up I spent lots of time with my grandparents. My grandma was my greatest friend who taught me sewing, crocheting, embroidery, and many many MAAAANY other crafts. My grandpa gave me my massive love for the ocean by taking me on walks at Redondo Beach Pier, and he gave me my love for drawing by creating with me mostly everything me I ask. Drawing. Art. Creating. It’s in my blood. I drew my first stick figure at 2 years old, and haven’t put down the pencil since. In school my artwork would be posted all around, sometimes it would even get sent to local art galleries to be displayed. My dedication to art is all thanks to my grandparents, everyday I try to carry on their legacy.
Who am I?
The idea of tattooing started in high school when I decided to sketch a bunch of pictures in my notebook instead of paying attention to my very sweet math teacher. At the end of class a fellow stupid grabbed my notebook shocked by what she saw, and started showing the students. When she handed the paper back, she told me “One day you will be my tattoo artist.” It was at that very moment my wheels started to turn. It ended up taking me a while to be brave enough to take the leap. I was never confident in my art, and was also a young mom. It wasn’t quite time to take that risk. That’s when I become a hairdresser, a bartender, a server, you name it I probably dabbled in it. It took meeting a wonderful music/ art community in Union, Washington to help me finally work up the courage to find an apprenticeship. I am forever thankful for them, from the bottom of my heart. January 15, 2018 I officially started my apprenticeship and thus my tattoo journey was born!
I am now 7 years into my tattoo career. Wow. 7. SEVEN. Cheese and rice time has flown, but boy was it one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made! Tattooing isn’t just a career…. It’s a lifestyle. A beautiful, hard, wonderful lifestyle. Every single day I get to make humans dreams come true by creating forever art to cherish their memories. I dedicate every single day to learning, creating, and being better than I was yesterday. In the midst of all the learning… it’s teaching me who I am as an artist. It’s humbling and magnificent. I hope one day you are sitting in my chair, getting some cool art, listening to my stories about local history/ghosts, and telling me all about your greatest memories!
I CHERISH EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU!
